Lavender is one of the key components of the classic Fougère accord, providing a fresh, herbal top note.
The essential oil of Lavender is composed of an array of molecules responsible for its distinct scent, with the four most abundant being:
- Linalool
- Linalyl Acetate
- Camphor
- Eucalyptol
Linalool and Linalyl Acetate give Lavender its characteristic floral smell, whilst Camphor and Eucalyptol provide an ‘icy freshness’ to the oil, coupled with herbal and minty nuances.
